Planning poker questions

Everything teams ask before their first session, and a few things they ask after it.

Is SprintsPoker free to use?

Yes. Creating a room, inviting your team and estimating stories are all free, with no account and no card required. There is no participant limit for normal team sizes.

Do I need to create an account to run planning poker?

No. You enter a name, get a room link and share it. Everyone joins as a guest. Your session is remembered in your browser, so refreshing the page puts you back in the same seat.

How many people can join a planning poker room?

Up to 50 participants can be in a room at once. Anyone can join as a voter or as a spectator, and spectators are excluded from the vote count and the agreement score.

Can other people see my vote before the reveal?

No. Until the round is revealed, the server only tells other participants whether you have voted, never what you picked. Vote values are sent to the room once, at the moment of reveal.

What card decks does SprintsPoker support?

Fibonacci, modified Fibonacci, T-shirt sizes, a simple sequential deck and powers of two. Every deck includes a question mark card for uncertainty and a coffee card for requesting a break.

What happens when everyone has voted?

If auto reveal is on, the cards flip as soon as the last voter commits. Otherwise the host reveals them. You can also let any voter reveal, which suits teams without a fixed facilitator.

How is the agreement percentage calculated?

It is the share of voters who chose the most common card. Five people voting 5, 5, 8, 5, 5 gives 80 percent agreement. Question mark and coffee cards count towards agreement but are left out of the average.

How long does a room stay open?

A room expires 60 minutes after the last activity, and the host can extend that up to eight hours. The countdown resets whenever someone votes or changes something, so an active session never disappears mid discussion.

Can I use planning poker for a remote or distributed team?

Yes, that is the main use case. Everything updates in real time over a websocket, and the participant list shows who is connected, who has voted and who has dropped off the call.

Does SprintsPoker work on mobile?

Yes. The room layout adapts to phone screens, so someone joining from a phone while walking into the office can still vote.
