Planning poker tools compared
Most of these tools do the same thing on the surface: everyone picks a card, the cards flip together. The differences that matter are further down, in the free tier limits, the participant caps and whether the number ends up in your tracker by itself.
How to choose one
Start with the constraint that will actually bite. For most teams that is the free tier, and free tiers are capped in three different ways, which is why they are hard to compare at a glance. Some cap people, some cap rounds or stories per session, and some cap nothing but show advertising instead. A seven-person cap and a five-story cap sound similar and fail in completely different places.
Next, work out who has to be in the room. If a contractor, a designer or a product manager on a different toolchain needs to vote, anything that requires a licence on your issue tracker is out before you compare anything else. If everyone voting already has a Jira seat, that constraint disappears and a Jira app becomes the strongest option on this page.
Then decide whether write-back matters. Typing an agreed number into a ticket takes about four seconds, so for a team estimating eight stories a fortnight the automation is worth very little. For a team running a two-hour refinement across forty issues it is the difference between finishing and not.
Finally, look at what the tool shows after the reveal. A tool that only shows an average is quietly encouraging the worst way to resolve a round, because the average is a number nobody voted for. An agreement percentage tells you whether to move on or discuss, which is the actual decision in front of you.

It has no Jira integration, no Linear integration and no CSV import. It has no async voting, so everybody estimates in the same session. There is no account, which also means there is no saved history across sessions beyond the export you take at the end.
Those absences are why the tool is free and why it opens in one click, but they are real absences. If any of them is the thing you need, one of the pages above will point you at a product that has it.
Common questions
What should I look for in a planning poker tool?
Four things decide it in practice: whether the free tier covers your actual team size and story count, whether everyone who needs to vote can get in without an account or a licence, whether the estimate has to end up in your issue tracker automatically, and whether the tool shows agreement rather than just an average. Everything else is preference.
Is there a free planning poker tool with no signup?
Several. SprintsPoker, Pointing Poker and Scrum Poker Online all let you create a room and share a link without an account. PlanITpoker offers a quick play mode that needs no signup but caps its free plan at seven participants. Planning Poker Online lets players join without an account but asks the person creating the game to register.
Do I need a Jira app to run planning poker?
Only if you want the agreed estimate written into the issue automatically. A Jira Marketplace app can import issues by board, sprint or JQL and write the number back, which no standalone website can do. The trade is that everyone voting needs a seat on the Jira site, and installing the app needs an admin.
Why does the free tier of some tools run out mid-session?
Because the cap is per game rather than per person. Planning Poker Online, for example, publishes a free plan limit of 9 votings and 5 voted issues per game, which a refinement session working through a dozen stories will pass in one sitting. Check whether a limit counts people, rounds or stories before you plan a session around it.
